We've all heard the question — sometimes curious, sometimes loaded: "But where are you really from?"
This Common Ground open mic night is a space to sit with that question instead of rushing past it. We're gathering to talk — through poetry, story, spoken word, or however you want to show up — about identity, otherness, and the particular ache and beauty of building a home when you exist between worlds.
Whether you're first-generation, an immigrant, a convert, multiracial, someone who's moved countries or just moved a lot inside your own head — this night is for anyone who's had to answer that question more than once.
You don't have to perform to join. Come share a piece, read someone else's words, or simply listen.
Time: Thursday, July 30th @ 7:30 PM
Location: QH Basement
Refreshments to be provided!
